Heartbreaking Discovery on 5th October 2020
It’s with such a heavy heart that we can confirm that Dominic’s skull was found in a wooded area by a hunter near Lake Almanor, at the south end off First Avenue, Chester, CA on 5th October 2020. Those of you that remember Dominic’s case from our previous article will remember this was in the same vicinity to where Dominic’s truck was found, keys still in the ignition along with his cell phone and wallet.
His skull was identified by his teeth through the use of a forensic odontologist after the Plumas County Sheriff’s department was called to the scene. A further search and rescue operation is underway to try to locate the rest of his remains.

It is with great sadness and heartbreak that we must report that the remains discovered near Lake Almanor yesterday are indeed those of our beloved Dominic Gracin. It has been a very long 23 months since our golden boy went away. As you can imagine, this is unbelievably hard to write. We feel at least some comfort in knowing that all this time he has been safe and cared for on the other side by so many others who have gone before. We want to thank our wonderful community for all of your continued love and support. We also want to thank the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office for the way the discovery of Dominic’s remains was handled and we want to wish them, and the other forensic professionals that are involved, god speed, strength, and perseverance as they pursue the investigative efforts that will bring us real closure.
Right now we are allowing ourselves time to process this news and we ask for your continued patience and consideration. Dominic’s immediate family members have asked that I beg everyone to give them ample space to grieve during this time. Please refrain from calling, messaging, and texting as it is overwhelming. We know that there is a whole community that is now grieving our boy and we respect that. A time will come that we will be able to properly celebrate who Dominic was and what he meant to us. For now though, hold each other, love each other and never take a single moment for granted.
